Overview:

We are seeking a skilled VDI Engineer for a contract to support and optimize our virtual desktop infrastructure, with a primary focus on the manufacturing floor. This is a high-impact role requiring someone with deep VMware Horizon and Thin Client delivery experience who can work independently and drive results quickly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and manage VMware Horizon environments with Thin Clients (on-premises delivery).
• Create and maintain golden images, deploy desktop pools, and install applications as required.
• Configure and support Thin Clients using IGEL OS.
• Contribute to the architecture and design of standardized Nutanix + Horizon integrations.
• Work collaboratively with a small local IT team and offshore resources.
• Support a ~300-session environment with an emphasis on consistency, speed, and performance.
• Be available onsite in Minneapolis as needed, with occasional travel to out-of-state plant locations for deployments.

Requirements:

• Deep hands-on experience with VMware Horizon and Thin Client VDI delivery.
• Proficiency in IGEL OS, golden image creation, desktop pool management, and app deployment.
• Familiarity with Nutanix infrastructure in conjunction with Horizon VDI environments.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal direction.
• Local to the Minneapolis, MN area or able to be onsite as needed.
